Toe the Line (playtestSo I made a game about one of my favorite things to do as a kid: trying not to step on the cracks. That’s literally the whole idea.

You control your left foot with the keyboard and your right foot with the mouse. On a phone, it’s one thumb per foot. Hold to lift a foot, move it, then let go to put it down. If any part of your shoe touches a line, you lose.

Sounds easy until your brain has to control both feet separately. And honestly, keyboard and mouse is the hardest way to play. I made the thing and I still struggle.

What's in this build:

  • 15 sidewalk levels and 16 park levels (the park opens once you clear 5 sidewalk levels)
  • Endless mode
  • A daily challenge where everyone gets the same course
  • Online leaderboards, kept separate for keyboard, phone and gamepad

This is an early playtest, so some things will feel off. That's what I want to hear about. There's a "Tell us" link in the menu and on the pause screen. Even "I don't like the music" helps a lot.

Controls

  • Keyboard + mouse: hold Space + WASD for the left foot, hold click + move the mouse for the right foot
  • Gamepad: LT + left stick, RT + right stick
  • Phone: left thumb on the left half, right thumb on the right half
